Molecular Pathogenesis & Neuroprotection of Nervous System Disorders

Experimental Animal Models and Behavior Analysis

Molecular epidemiology and pathobiology of infectious diseases from one health perspective

Personal Brief Introduction

The main research area is evaluating mechanism-based pharmacological activities of Chinese herbal medicines to enhance learning & memory, overcome depression, and neuroprotection in animal models. Insights into the biological mechanisms, i.e., modulation of neurochemical pathways and reducing inflammatory markers to attenuate chronic sleep deprivation-induced dysfunction. Previously, I worked on the Molecular epidemiology and pathobiology of pox virus disease in ruminants, application of an animal disease model to study the immunopathological changes against pathogen-derived host-immune response, serological assays, and immunomodulation by coconut oil extract and essential oils in poultry birds. Furthermore, I have hands-on expertise in basic immunological and molecular assays such as isolation, propagation, and molecular characterization of pathogens from animals and their products, understanding gene expression/signaling pathways, fluorescence microscopy, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, and histopathology.
